WEIGHLIFTING ADDS TO HAUL



FROM SEPT 4 (DAY 2): 
WEIGHTLIFTING and Athletics brought in a combined total of nine gold medals to put PNG on the top of the tally in day two (2) of the 2013 IX Mini Pacific Games in Wallis and Futuna.
Athletics brought in four gold, four silver and four bronze medals on day two of the competition while weighlifting raked in five golds and one silver.
The Hanuabada lasses, Rita Kari and Guba Hale, did what they were expected to do.
Kari took a gold each in the snatch, clean and jerk and total in the 63kg division.
Hale, who is Noumea-based, won the silver in the clean and jerk and taking a medal each in the snatch and total in the 69kg.
The rush of medals sees PNG on top of the medal tally in day 2 with 14 gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze medals.
Tahiti is second with 8 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze, New Caledonia follows on third place with 7 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze.
Fiji is fourth with 5 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze.
